Unit’s Organizational Structure

 

The Unit’s Organizational Framework

The formation of the unit’s board of directors has been approved by the Faculty Council in virtue of the decree no. 152 dated on 2/7/2007. Additionally, the office of the quality unit has been fully equipped and established on the second floor, above the basement at the old building of the Faculty of Arts.

Quality Unit Board of Directors

  • The Dean, Chair of the board of directors;
  • Director of the Unit;
  • Vice-dean of Educational and Student Affairs;
  • Vice-dean of Community Service and Environmental Development;
  • Vice-dean of Postgraduate Studies & Research;
  • General Manager of the Faculty;
  • President of the Students’ Union at the faculty.

1-Responsibilities of Board of Directors of the Quality Assurance Unit:

This board is held to be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Approving the general policies related to the quality assurance and setting the executive programs that ensure the achievement of the unit’s objectives;
  • Specifying the internal system of work inside the unit and the responsibilities and general description related to the unit’s functions;
  • Approving the appointment of the members of the executive teamwork in the unit and subsidiary committees;
  • Approving the annual report related to the unit’s activities and the technical and subsidiary committees, and sending it to the center of the Quality Assurance at the university.

2-Responsibilities of the Chair of Board of Directors of the Quality Assurance Unit:

The Chair of the board of directors is held responsible for the following tasks:

  • Inviting the board of directors to a meeting and presiding it;
  • Taking part in following up the execution of the general policies, set for achieving the unit’s objectives;
  • Taking part in following up the execution of the decrees issued by the board;
  • Approving the budget of the projects suggested by the unit’s head;
  • Approving the decrees of appointment and recruitment of the teamwork necessary for the execution of activities;
  • Supporting the unit;
  • Taking part in following up the execution of the strategic plan in accordance with the requirements of development and the needs of the faculty;
  • Approving the discharge and settlement of the budget related to the activities carried out in various projects.

3-Responsibilities of the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit:

The director of this unit is held responsible for the administrative and technical tasks in conformity with the general policy of the board and its decrees, especially the following tasks:

  • Facilitating the administrative and technical work in the unit;
  • Taking part in following up the execution of the decrees taken by the board;
  • Suggesting the general policy for the Quality Assurance at the faculty and setting the executive programs that ensure the achievement of the unit’s objectives;
  • Suggesting a plan for publicizing quality culture at the faculty and taking part in following up its execution by the members of the executive teamwork and the committees of the unit;
  • Taking part in following up the procedures of the quality in the academic program and the various curricula at the faculty;
  • Supervising the preparation of periodical reports related to the qualitative committees of the unit, and presenting them to the board of directors;
  • Preparing the unit’s annual report and the technical committees affiliated to the unit and presenting it to the unit’s board of directors;
  • Preparing the unit’s annual budget and presenting it to the board;
  • Coordinating between the project’s teamwork and the faculty members, staff and various departments;
  • Suggesting the appointment of the heads of qualitative committees in the unit;
  • Representing the unit at the university’s assurance center and other control authorities.

4- Responsibilities of the Vice-dean of Educational and Student Affairs:

The vice-dean of educational and student affairs is held responsible for the following tasks:

  • Supervising the development of the undergraduate curricula and programs;
  • Setting a program for the maintenance and support of the labs at the faculty to ensure a high level of service;
  • Scheduling the availability of the scientific devices and tools used by the scientific departments at the faculty;
  • Preparing the budget’s project of the labs at the faculty in accordance with the ratio of use and numerating the devices available at the faculty, preparing a report about the needed devices or materials, and setting a renovation and maintenance system for the existing ones;
  • Following up the students’ participation in the activities;
  • Supervising the execution of the academic supervision;
  • Supervising the development of the classes and halls.

5- Responsibilities of the Vice-dean of the Postgraduate Studies and Research:

The vice-dean of the postgraduate studies and research is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Supervising the development of postgraduate curricula and programs;
  • Preparing a plan for the postgraduates and scientific research at the faculty in conformity with the suggestions of the departments’ councils and specialized committees;
  • Following up the execution of such a plan by the various departments at the faculty;
  • Supervising the process of scientific publication at the faculty and following up the execution of the present plan thereof;
  • Suggesting the organization of scientific conferences and seminars at the faculty, and being responsible for the affairs of the foreign cultural relations;
  • Preparing the minutes of the faculty’s annual conference;
  • Supervising the library’s affairs and suggesting a plan for increasing its sources, references and periodicals.

6-Responsibilities of the Vice-dean of the Community Service and Environmental Development:

The vice-dean of the community service and environmental development is responsible for:

  • Studying and suggesting the general policy, plans and programs that ensure the achievement of the faculty’s role in the community service and environmental development;
  • Studying the problems of the production activity, the role of services and other institutions, and the role of the applicable scientific research in resolving them;
  • Studying and suggesting the general policy necessary for establishing and managing the units of special purpose that provide students and non-students with their services;
  • Studying and suggesting the general policy, preparing and executing the programs related to the training of the members of society on how to use the most updated scientific and technical tools, teaching and increasing their productivity in various fields;
  • Supervising the follow-up of the alumni and connecting them with the marketplace;
  • Studying and suggesting the general policy related to organizing conferences, seminars and general talks that focus primarily on the community service and environmental development;

7-Responsibilities of the General Director of the Faculty:

The general director of the faculty is held responsible for the following tasks:

  • Supervising the process of labor distribution and coordination among the organizational divisions at the faculty;
  • Following up the work plans and the progress inside the faculty, issuing the administrative decrees that ensure the achievement of the concerned objectives and following up the execution of these decrees;
  • Supervising the preparation of the budget’s project and carrying out its plan regarding its applicability and commitment;
  • Attending all the meetings at the Quality Assurance Unit.

8-Responsibilities of the Secretary of the Students’ Union at the Faculty:

  • Being in constant contact with the students and encouraging them to participate in the students’ activities;
  • Informing students of the faculty’s policies and plans;
  • Notifying Faculty leadership of the students’ problems;
  • Attending the meetings at the Quality Assurance Unit.

9-The Administrative Authority at the Unit:

It consists of the following:

  • Head of the financial affairs;
  • Secretary;
  • Two computer specialists.
