The Faculty of Arts organized a ceremony honoring its junior staff for their outstanding efforts at the beginning of the academic year. Dr. Nihad Bibars, Latin American Literature teacher at the Spanish Department at the Faculty, joins teaching at the MA program in Contemporary Arabic Studies at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, at Independent University of Barcelona.

Besides, she opened the ceremony and the opening film at the 11th Arab and Mediterranean Film Festival as part of her cooperation with the Independent University of Barcelona and the Film House in Catalonia. Best wishes for more success

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Salwa Mahmoud, Head of the Spanish department, the Department of Spanish Language and Literature joins the ceremony of the Embassy of Panama in Cairo with its cultural week on Thursday 16^th of November, 2017. It organized a seminar on the traditional clothes in Panama. The audiences were asked to appear in traditional clothes of each country. The Spanish Department held an orientation session for the first year students on Monday 2nd of October, 2017. It was honored by the presence of some Senior staff members as; A. Yesterday, the Spanish Department of Literature at the Faculty of Arts – Helwan University, organized a session about “Humor and Literature” with the Spanish writer and journalist Ignatio Bidal Volc. He worked at the largest and most widely respected Spanish newspapers, such as ABC and La Vanguardia, also collaborated with the prestigious newspaper El País. The seminar was moderated byAssociate Prof. Dr. Salwa Mahmoud, in the presence of the Director of the Cervantes Institute, Mr. Eduardo Calbo, and the Director of the Institute Library, Ms. Anna Isabel del Porto Khel, with members of the Spanish Language Department and the junior staff and a large number of the Spanish Department students from different Egyptian Universities

Dr. Fatima Abdel Samad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, started the second scientific symposium on 5/4/2017, organized by the Department of Spanish Language and Literature. It was under the title of “The Influence of Diaspora in Literature and Language”. The seminar was presented by its coordinator Associate Prof. Dr. Salwa Mahmoud, the head of the Spanish Department.  It included a large number of the faculty members, the junior staff in the department, and the participation and attendance of a number of professors from Egyptian and Spanish universities.

Ms. Duaa Sirag Mohammed, Assistant Lecturer at the Spanish Department, participated in the “Anti-Racism Day” in Granada University, Spain on Thursday under the title of ‘Against all forms of racism’. She presented a paper titled as ‘ Discrimination due to religious beliefs in Europe’ discussing the difficulties facing the veiled girl in Europe and the wrong image of Islam in Europe. The speech was rich by some Quran verses and prophetic traditions that forbidden violence and terrorism and call for peace and harmony between people of different faiths … Best wishes for more success

Ms. Duaa Sirag Mohammed, Assistant lecturer at the Spanish Department, participated in a conference on “The World Conference of Female Writers and Characters in Literature” at the University of Salamanca, Spain, on 30 March 2017. She presented a paper entitled “Challenge of Arab Women Writers” and the translation of Ghada Fayek’s novel ‘the Butterflies’. It is worth mentioning that she is the only Arab researcher to participate in the conference. Best wishes for more success.

Welcoming the new Students at the Spanish Department, 2014-2015  

The Department of Spanish Language organized a session with its new students for the year 2014/2015 on Tuesday 21 October, 2014 in the presence of Dr. Salwa Mahmoud, Head of the Department, and the staff members of the department. Dr. Salwa welcomed the new students, and she explained the activities of the department and its objectives, as well as the faculty committees, and how important it is for them, in addition to the cultural activities within the Youth Welfare Committee.  She urged the need to raise good behaviors within the faculty, and stressed the importance of continuous communication between students and their professors to ensure good performance and quality. At the end, Dr. Salwa wished them a successful and fruitful academic year
