Dr. Iman Nasry, the population section, the Sociology Department, Faculty of Arts, has received an invitation from Dr. Ayman Zahry to attend the Conference of the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies held at the American University in Cairo and to celebrate the First International Migration Day, in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Migration Studies. The following have attended the conference: the third- and fourth- year students; Ms. Aya Mohammed Hassaneen, a demonstrator, the population section; and Dr. Iman Nasry Dawoud.
In the margins of the conference, the Sociology Department has coordinated with the National Population Council and the National Union for Combating Violence against Children and Women to allow the students of the population section attend the first training organized by the National Union for Combating Violence against Children and Women in cooperation with the NPC as an initiative to implement the national strategy of population.
Among a selection of speakers from inside and outside the Arab world, the following have participated in the sessions of the Conference of the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies held at the American University in Cairo on Dec 18, 19, 2015:
- Ibrahim Awad, Director of the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies, Faculty of International Affairs and Public Policy, American University in Cairo
- Mustafa Kamel El Sayed, Professor of Political Science, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University
- Dr. Jasser Al-Karim, Representative of the World Health Authority
- Shaden Khalaf, Representative of the High Commission for Refugee Affairs
- Ayman Zohry, Professor of Migration Studies, American University in Cairo
Besides, with a kind invitation of the AUC, both Ms. Aya Mohammed Hassaneen and Dr. Iman Nasry Dawoud in addition to some students of the population section, the Sociology Department, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University have also participated in the activities of the conferences.

The Egyptian Identity Symposium was held on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Sociology Department. We were honored to have the Egyptian Family House and some of its members including Prof. Jamal Abu Zeid and Prof. Fahim Fahim, as shown in the picture with some second-year students from the Sociology Department. The symposium was organized and supervised by Dr. Iman Nasry, the population section.

The Sociology Department held an educational symposium and a practical activity entited “The Egyptian Identity”. We were honored to receive the members of the youth committee of the Egyptian Family House and the sea scouts at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 7, at Hall 55 at Faculty of Arts. The symposium was organized and supervised by Dr. Iman Nasry, a lecturer, the Sociology Department, and Prof. Mahmoud Zaky, the Head of the Sociology Department.
